Pancakes & more

The old football canteen of sports park 'Melkweg' has been transformed into a unique restaurant with an amazing terrace. This hidden gem, located in the Northern part of Amsterdam, is much more than just a regular pancake house. At STROOP (rhymes with "rope") you can eat an environmentally friendly dish in a cozy and pleasant atmosphere, away from the crowded city-centre.

Sustainable and local

STROOP is part of the urban farming project NoordOogst. NoordOogst connects neighbours, entrepreneurs, volunteers, and other interested people with regard to sustainable food production. It is a place where living, working, learning, playing, and eating come together. You can find more information at the websiteWhat is served at STROOP comes from our own soil as much as possible. The bacon on your pancake is from Buitengewone Varkens —free range pigs—who live in the field next to STROOP. We grow vegetables in the vegetable patches (moestuinen) and we take into account what the current season has to offer us. Other treats —like our delicious beers— are sourced locally, and are produced sustainably whenever possible.
